I. Feature length:
1、 Specifications:
● Both the content and focus of the documentaries must be in line with the annual theme ‘Youth and Citizenship’
● Length：45 minutes minimum
● Shooting Format: either DVCAM, DVCPRO, HDV, BETACAM or higher quality; audio recorded with a separate microphone
● Final format: Digital Betacam or Uncompressed files (source code) on disks
● Deadline for completion: August 31st, 2011
2、 Applicant Qualifications：
● Independent directors or producers: must have completed at least two documentaries 30 minutes in length or longer, or one documentary at least 60 minutes in length; have professional film and/or TV production and execution abilities.
● Writers, photographers, social workers etc: must have already worked on the proposed theme and must submit the finished documentary together with independent directors or producers.
3、 Entry quota:
● Approximately 10 proposals will be selected for evaluation, of which 3 to 5 will be selected for the final review and given financial support.
4、Maximum funding:
● The maximum funding for each proposal is 80,000 RMB or 400,000 NTD.
II. Short documentaries:
1、 Specifications:
- Both the content and focus of the documentaries must be in line with the annual theme—Youth and Citizenship
- Length：10 minutes maximum
- Shooting Format: either DV, DVCAM, DVCPRO, HDV, BETACAM or higher quality; audio recorded with a separate microphone
- Final format: Digital Betacam or Uncompressed files(source code) on disks
- Deadline for completion: March 31st, 2011
2、 Applicant qualifications: no specific requirements
3、 Entry quota:
- Approximately 6 proposals will be selected for evaluation, of which 3 to 5 will be selected for the final review and given financial support.
4、 Maximum funding:
● Mainland: the maximum funding for each proposal is 10,000 RMB
● Outside of the mainland: the maximum funding for each proposal is 120,000 NTD
III. Proposal Format and Required Materials
1、 Initial Review:

● Extended Proposals (requirements are listed on the second page of the proposal form)
● Materials such as pictures and trailers are strongly recommended [pictures can be inserted into the proposal; trailers can be sent via mail, and marked with the name of the director, documentary title and length]
● Directors participating in the CNEX program for the first time need to provide representative works [please send via mail, marked with the name of the director, documentary title and length]
2、 Final Review:
● If the work is selected for the Final Review, live demonstrations need to be presented with powerpoint and trailers or pictures.
● Applicants selected for the Final Review will go to Taipei to attend the international proposal workshop organized by CNEX at the end of October.
IV. Key Dates:
1、 Deadline for proposal submission: July 15th, 2010
2、 The names selected in the first round will be listed on the official CNEX website—

www.cnex.org.hk in mid Aug, 2010.
3、 The final round selection and the workshop will be held in mid-September, 2010, in Beijing. Selected applicants will be notified of the specific time and procedures.
V. Special notification
1、 Students are especially encouraged and welcomed to submit proposals.
2、 Please perfect the proposal as much as possible; if selected in the final round, the oral presentation and visual demonstration of the proposal should have been practiced thoroughly beforehand. This may affect the results of the final selection.
3、 In order to best promote the documentaries, CNEX reserves the right to manage the final contracted proposals and works.
